Thanksgiving and yuletide are coming, and i’m operating on upping my excursion meal sport.

I normally depend on my mother to get me via those food, but she’s lower back in Texas, and i’m on my own in Virgina.

And in real Shenanigans style, I’m starting with dessert first: because this clean candy cane cherry cheese Danish recipe sounded superb.

Surfing through Pinterest as one does become a little overwhelming.

But i discovered some thing I knew my youngsters would think was a laugh.

And that i do suggest a wee bit.

Ahem.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • Two rolls low-fat crescent rolls
  • One 16 oz bar of low-fat cream cheese
  • 2/3 TSP vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • One can low-sugar cherry pie filling

GLAZE
  • 3 TBS milk
  • 2 TSP vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 stages.
  2. Open can of crescent rolls and shape into a candy cane on a cookie sheet.
  3. One roll have to be sufficient to make the cane.
  4. The second roll can be used to make the stripes on top later.
  5. Mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  6. Mixture until smooth.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough.
  8. Don’t get too close to the edge; it'll get a bit messy!
  9. Now spread a small layer of cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer.
  10. On this stage, you genuinely want to head slowly and frivolously.
  11. Too much cherry blend is a positive manner to overload the Danish.
  12. Use the second roll of crescent rolls to create strips to put across the top of the cherry filling. I ripped the crescents aside and rolled the strips among my hands and positioned them on the pinnacle. Press the ends of each strip right down to the aspect of the Danish.
  13. Pop within the oven and cook at 350 levels for eleven-12 mins.

GLAZE
  1. Slowly upload the milk and vanilla to the powdered sugar and mix.
  2. I didn’t use all of the milk, but i used to be hoping for a little thicker glaze.
  3. this is in which you could modify to taste by blending slowly.
  4. Pour the glaze over the top of the Danish.
  5. Plate and serve with vanilla ice cream if you want to be more decadent!
  6. My kids love this one!
  7. Lucy asked me to make it once more day after today.
  8. And the following day. And the subsequent…
  9. I’m no longer certain about that, however I do think this turned into clean enough to make for our Christmas morning brunch.
  10. It took approximately half-hour to make and that i’d charge it as a 4 in complexity (on a scale of one-10, with 10 being most complicated).
  11. make certain to pin it for later!
